 JECA Syllabus



Organizing Board : West Bengal Joint Entrance Board is the organizer of JECA Examination. Those students who are trying to study the MCA course , can apply this JECA exam.

JECA Exam Pattern: As per previous Exam pattern the JECA exam was two sections namely Mathematics and Reasoning portion  . But after the year 2022 the jeca exam pattern has been changed. Only MCQ from graduation of computer science has come.  

Eligibility: B.Sc Computer Science / BCA/ BE or B.tech computer science or IT.


  Detailed Syllabus:
  1.  C Programming: Variables and Data types , IO Operation, Operators and Expression, Control Flow statements , Array, Pointers , String Handling, Structures and Unions , Files Handling ,  Pre-processor Directives , Command Line Arguments.
  2. Object Oriented programming : Data types , If/Else , ,Loops , Function , switch case , Pointer , Structure , Array , String , Function  Overloading , Function Template , Scope of variables , Type aliases (typedef) , Unions , Enumerated type , Class , Constructors , Overloading Operators , Keyword this  , Static Members , Const Member Functions  , Class template , Template specialization  , Namespace , Friendship, ( Friend class and Friend Functions) , Inheritance , Polymorphism , Virtual Members , Abstract base Class.
  3. Unix: Following commands and its different options - ls , ps , pwd , mv , cp , touch , cat , time , cal , bc , sort , diff , wc , comm , in , du, kill , sleep , sleep , chmod , chown , top , nice , renice , cut , paste, grep , file , whereis, which , echo , env , PATH ,CLASSPATH , find. Vi editors , Shell , wildcard , shell , shell script
  4. Data structures: Searching , Sorting , Stack, Queue, Linked List, Tree,  Graph .
  5. Introduction to Computers: Bus Structure , Basic I/O , Subroutines , Interrupt , DMA , RAM, ROM, pipeline System calls .
  6. Operating System: Process , Thread , CPU Scheduling , Deadlock , Synchronization, Memory Management , Disk Management , File Management.
  7. Computer Networks: Concepts of Networking , Applications areas , Classification , Reference models , transmission environment & technologies , Routing Algorithms , IP, UDP, & TCP , IPV4 & IPV6  , Reliable data transferring methods , Application protocols, Network security, Management Systems , Perspective of communications networks.
  8. Database Management System: Introduction to database,ER Diagram ,Relational Algebra , Relational Calculus , SQL , Normalization , Transactions , Indexing , Query optimization.
  9. Software Engineering: Introduction to software engineering , A generic View of process , Process models , Design Engineering , Testing  Strategies , Product matrices , Matrices of process & Products , Risk management , Quality Management.
  10. Machine Learning :Classification , Decision Tree learning , Artificial Neural Networks , Support vector machine, Bayesian Learning Clustering , Hidden Markov Models.

  1. Coding helps to strengthen problem-solving skills, which kids can also use to overcome their future problems. In addition, computers are built with zeros and ones, and mathematical operations are processed during the coding. It is the process of using a programming language to get a computer to behave how you want it to. Failing and then succeeding is the best way to learn. Children fail to do a certain task but their zeal to succeed does not decrease. Coding helps the kids in furnishing many skills.
